Big Five Spotter ("we", "our", "the app") is a multiplayer wildlife sighting game. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Data We Collect
- Player name and avatar — The display name and emoji you choose when joining a game. This is visible to other players in your game.
- Device identifier — A randomly generated UUID stored on your device, used to reconnect you to games. This is not linked to your Apple ID or any personal identifier.
- Game data — Animal sightings, confirmations, scores, and achievements you create during gameplay.
- Push notification token — If you grant notification permission, your device's push token is stored to deliver real-time game updates.
Data We Do Not Collect
- Location data
- Contacts or address book
- Photos, camera, or microphone access
- Browsing history or tracking data
- Email addresses or phone numbers
- Payment or financial information
How We Use Your Data
All collected data is used solely to provide the game experience:
- Display your name and score to other players in the same game
- Persist your game session so you can rejoin
- Send push notifications about new sightings in your game
Data Storage
Game data is stored on secure servers hosted by DigitalOcean. Data is retained for the duration of the game and may be deleted after a period of inactivity.
Third-Party Services
We use Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver notifications. No data is shared with advertising networks, analytics platforms, or other third parties.
Children's Privacy
The app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only user-provided data is a chosen display name, which does not need to be a real name.
